KAZN AM1300 is
America
's first and only 24-hour free-access Chinese language radio station. Established
in February 1984, it was originally called K-Asian, devoting itself to the pan-Asian
population in
Southern California
by broadcasting in-language format. During its early years, K-Asian provided programming
in eight different Asian languages: Korean, Cantonese, Japanese, Mandarin, Polynesian,
Tagalog (Filipino), Thai and Vietnamese. In Southern California alone, K-Asian's
success spurred the growth of two 24-hour Korean radio stations (both of which originally
began broadcast on K-Asian), a predominately Vietnamese radio station and a rash of other
Asian language stations. Simply put, K-Asian is "the Father of Asian Radio." Since
September 1993, K-Asian launched on to create
America
's first and only 24-hour Chinese radio station...Radio Chinese! In July 1998 Multicultural
Broadcasting Inc. incorporated KAZN into its multiple stations.

Radio
Chinese
was created to serve Southern California,s diverse Chinese community, the largest
Asian population - over a quarter of a million strong - in the
Los
Angeles
market. With experienced broadcasters from
Taiwan
, Mainland
China
, Hong Kong and the
US
, Radio Chinese evolved to becoming
America
's first and only 24-hour free access Mandarin Chinese language radio station. More
importantly, Radio Chinese is the only Asian radio station that owns and operates
its own broadcast facilities unlike other Asian programmers that buy airtime from
their stations.
Unlike other US cities with
large Chinese communities, the Los Angeles Chinese market is
uniquely positioned as the only domestic Chinese market that
is predominately Mandarin-speaking. Subsequently, Radio
Chinese specifically targets the Mandarin - speaking market.
However, one must realize and understand that even though many
of these listeners may not speak Mandarin as their primary
household language, Mandarin is considered to be the
"universal" dialect or language among all Chinese, so, Radio
Chinese, attracts a broad spectrum of the Chinese
demographics. Radio Chinese serves as an important vehicle for advertisers to
reach the local Chinese market through commercial spots,
special promotional events and remotes. Radio Chinese believes
in the synergy created between the station, its clients and
its listeners. The ultimate result is superior programming and
client service.
